For the past 47 years!

Danridge Nursing Home, recently renamed Danridge's Burgundi Manor, has provided high quality care while serving a unique market and niche that has since grown to serve all persons without regard to race, color national origin, disability or age.

Mrs. Ruth Danridge Thompson founded Danridge Nursing Home under the name of Glenwood Nursing Home in 1959 out of the need to provide care for a then-neglected African-American senior community in demand for quality residential care.  The facility expanded to the 1825 Oak Hill Avenue location in 1968 where it remained and was renamed Danridge Nursing Home until 1999.

Nineteen Ninety-Nine was the pivotal year for Danridge.  It moved into its newly built facility  of 28,000 square feet, with state of the art equipment and the revised name of Danridge's Burgundi Manor.  Burgundi is the unique spelling of the color burgundy, which was Mrs. Thompson's  favorite color.

Mrs. Thompson died in 1985 and the operation was passed on to her daughter, Mrs. JoAnn Green Blunt, R.N. and licensed Nursing Home Administrator.  Mrs. Blunt continues to provide comprehensive quality nursing care to the Youngstown community.
